Blackjack Rules - Tips for Beginners

When you visit a place like Las Vegas or Atlantic City, many people like to go shopping or out to eat in fancy restaurants, but the most important activity that you can participate in at these famous cities is casino gambling. Betting on cards and other casino games is a favorite pastime of many people, and despite outlaw gambling over the years, it is still a popular activity today. If you?ve never really gambled before, but you want to be able to have some fun at the tables with your friends in the casino, here are some tips that you should keep in mind regarding Blackjack rules, one of the most popular games.

Before we get started, you should know that Blackjack, or 21 as it is sometimes referred to, is one of the oldest and most popular casino card games on the planet. Although Blackjack rules aren?t particularly difficult to learn or remember, especially compared to all the rule for Texas Hold?em poker, it still takes a little bit of skill, strategy and practice to be able to understand what?s going on, and win against the dealer on a consistent basis.

One of the most important Blackjack rules to keep in mind when you sit down at any casino table is that you?re going to have to make at least one bet without even being dealt cards. This is similar to the blind in Texas Hold?em poker, and it one of the ways that it is profitable for the casino, even if you choose not to bet any more money on the subsequent hand. One you?ve provided your initial bet, you will be dealt two cards, and it will be time to get ready to make some decisions about how likely you are to be holding a winning hand.

The basic Blackjack rules revolve around the desire to get cards whose values can be added up to equal 21 or less. The main goal of the game is to get close to 21 than the dealer does, and you don?t have to worry about any of the other players at the table, as you are all simply playing against the dealer?s hand. Going over 21 means that you will have busted and you have no chance of winning the pot. Cards numbered 2 through 9 are simply assigned their face value, the ten card, jack, queen and king are all valued at 10, and the Ace can either be worth 11 or 1, depending on the house rules.
